20 YEARS AFTER HER PASSING - C. DeLores Tucker was a civil rights trailblazer who fought for women of color and toward the end of her life against profane and misogynist lyrics in hip-hop/ rap music.
She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 4, 1927 She died on October 12, 2005 at the age of 78.

This award is being given in honor of C. DeLores Tucker to the Mayor of the City of Philadelphia, Honorable Cherelle Parker the first Black
female Mayor of Philadelphia, thriving to create a safer, cleaner, greener city with access to economic opportunity for all and has already made great strides in working towards her goals. The award will be given by the Natioanl Congress of Black Women (Philadelphia Chapter) and the Philadelphia Martin Luther King, Jr. Association for Nonviolence, Inc., two organizations founded and lead by Tucker
