This award is being given in honor of C. DeLores Tucker to the Rev. Marshall Mitchell, Pastor, Salem Baptist Church in Abington, PA. Given The award will be given by the National Congress of Black Women (Philadelphia Flagship Chapter) and the Philadelphia Martin Luther King, Jr. Association for Nonviolence, Inc., two organizations founded and lead by Tucker.

C. DeLores Tucker was a civil rights trailblazer who fought for women of color and toward the end of her life against profane and misogynist lyrics in hip-hop/ rap music.
She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 4, 1927 She died on October 12, 2005 at the age of 78.
